Parent Literacy Training at The RGVLC!

The parent literacy training at The Rio Grande Valley Literacy Center was a success. This workshop opportunity provided parents with a hands-on and engaging training that will assist them in bridging the gap of early literacy at home and encourage parental engagement to support child success. Our mission is to provide parents, teachers, and children with multiple sources of support in early literacy that will increase parental engagement and improve literacy skills in children to help them become early readers. We look forward to more trainings with The Rio Grande Valley Literacy Center.

The Rio Grande Valley Literacy Center (RGVLC) was founded in 2006 as a faith-based 501c3 non-profit organization. The organization and the local community leaders recognized the need for adult basic education classes in order to improve economic opportunities for the residents of the City of Pharr.  On August 13, 2013, the name change became official, and the organization began doing business as the Rio Grande Valley Literacy Center (RGVLC).In January 2018, RGVLC became a member of ProLiteracy, the largest adult literacy and basic education membership organization, and the leading resource and champion for adult education and literacy nationwide and worldwide. Its goal is to eventually offer classes in additional communities and counties in order to bring about systemic change in the Rio Grande Valley.
